An Image is Worth Zero Words

I know, the cliché saying is “an image is worth a thousand words” but I’m going to start posting the screenshots I’ve taken more often here.  Why?  It’s simple really, I think some of them are rather cool and I can’t think of any place to share them.  Hopefully I can grab screenshots frequent enough to throw up some posts like this on a semi-regular basis but I also don’t want them to be the main thing you see on here.  Now, let’s get into the image-y goodness; I’ll write a couple sentences under each image explaining what game it’s from and why I like it.

Okay, now for the image-y goodness.  The first image is from Forza Motorsport 4.  I was playing the career mode in the game (that’s my Honda Fit towards the right side of the image) and paused the game to go do something.  Saw the photo mode as an option when I came back and decided to play around with it.  This was the result of messing around with the field of view (FOV) slider and focus point of the shot.  Not going to lie, I personally think this would make a sweet picture in a calendar.  It was also one of the first images I used in a review that landed me a spot at Inside View Gaming.

Next up is another shot from FM4, but I honestly do not remember why I took the shot.  It just looked pretty cool I thought.  I was in the blue car you see in the background and the car in the foreground had just spun out for whatever dumb reason (AI cannot drive in games) and this was the result.

The Quest For Tasty Cereal (Part 2): Conclusion

Status quo for my posting format of the Bowl Bound series is I stick entirely with that until the national championship game is over.  After it’s over, then I resume the normal posts of where I ramble on about anything and everything.  Much like I’m doing right now…  So a quick final update and tally on the aforementioned Bowl Bound series since I made a post before the last game.  Alabama won the championship game and screwed up my prediction…so thanks for that.  Either way, my record still remains semi intact as it moved from 19-16, to 19-17.  A winning record is still a winning record!

Going forward (ooh, look at that fancy PR like wording…”Going forward”…), as of right now I’m not entirely sure if I will bring back the Bowl Bound series later this year.  Yes, I thoroughly enjoy doing it every time but if the NCAA adds more bowl games (I don’t see them doing that however) I just won’t have the time to do them.  I’m hoping to start college later this year and if I am able to do that, I may be too busy to get the games simulated and posted in a timely manner.  And by timely manner I mean at least the day of the game, not the day after.  Although who knows, I’ll probably still torture myself and still do them.  We’ll have to see.

Also, have a screenshot of some Knights because why not?  Not because of the fact I need to start putting one or two in posts so social media can pull them when posts publish.

Clever Title Goes Here

This is normally where I mention the fact it has been a really long time since my last post.  Well, that’s true, it has been since September since my last post…  Despite that length of time between posts, there isn’t a whole lot new really.  I’ve been busy with a bunch of real-life stuff and as a result, have had to cut down on my gaming time a little bit.  Though at times it doesn’t seem like it…for example; as I’m typing this, I’m playing some Madden 15…

Speaking of Madden 15, The Kickoff sure lasted a long time didn’t it?  I plan to address that by simply making it return later in the season when more people pretend to actually care about the NFL and sports in general.  Playoffs.  I will bring the series back during the NFL playoff games such as the Wild Card games,  divisional playoffs and even the Super Bowl.  I will also, available time permitting, be bringing back my personal favorite series of Bowl Bound.  This will be my third year of doing the series…also meaning I’ll be using like four year old data from the game.  Should be interesting!  Maybe I can find some sort of roster or something that’s a little more up to date, we’ll find out.

The House of Wolves…has Fallen

Snapshot_20140918_150043 (2)

On Tuesday, Bungie released the second expansion for Destiny entitled House of Wolves.  Today I am here to deliver my first impressions of said expansion; I’ll be discussing a little about the story missions, the new co-op arena mode that was released in the form of the Prison of Elders, and some other stuff in general about the changes that came as a result of the new content.

As I mentioned earlier, I will be talking a little about the story missions; so naturally there might be some spoilers involved.  Consider this your first warning, spoilers ahoy!

The State of…er, Destiny

Aha, clever play on words for a title huh?  No…okay I’ll give you this one.  I know in my recent posts I’ve been saying “Oh, I’ll talk about my Destiny adventure in the next post.  I’ll talk about them next time.”  So I’m sort of here to talk about my adventures and various other opinions on the game.  To kick things off, let’s take a look back at the evolution of my main character; my beloved Warlock.  #SpaceMagic.

Here he is back on the last day of the beta.  Maxed out at a level eight, not being able to earn any more fancy abilities since I hit the XP cap in the beta…whoops.

Turn In: The Quest for Tasty Cereal

Hey, would you look at this!  A post that is not two months after my last one!  Speaking of last posts and such, I was hoping to get this one out not too long after my last Bowl Bound post but as you can see that didn’t happen.  My original plan was to save my last post for an opportune time which apparently was at that time.  If you haven’t already, I would suggest giving it a read as it describes how I feel about the current state of online communities.  As I am sure you’ve gathered from reading most of my posts (or ramblings) on here; you know I am very passionate about games and even their communities.  It’s one reason why I want to turn this hobby (pressing keys with letters about the topic of gaming) into my career.

However, I also realized one thing after publishing that post.  While this is my blog and I can (almost) do what I want to with it, most of the time it is either me stating my thoughts on things or what I’ve been playing.  I haven’t been doing the latter as much recently and I need to get back to it.  Sort of get “back to my roots” as you could say; start posting what I’ve been playing and not why.  Besides, I have places like Frantic Talks for my thoughts on the topics we cover over there.  I mentioned this over Twitter and someone told me not to change, keep voicing my opinion, don’t be silent, etc.  I won’t be silent as I probably can’t be…  If I see something I don’t agree with I’m not afraid to start a discussion and share my thoughts on the matter.  Some places are just better for my banter than here.

The Quest for Tasty Cereal

After my last post having such a creative title, I cannot take credit for this one.  FranticJ3 threw this out there when I asked several people for ideas on what to possibly rename my “Bowl Bound” series.  I found this too good of a title to just throw away, so Bowl Bound will remain…bound to itself while this post will claim the quest reward.

In my last post I mentioned how I was wanting to start raiding a little more in Destiny, I have been doing that as of lately.  I’ve helped a couple people run through the Vault of Glass for the first time and it felt good being able to help them out.  I remember my first time going through the Vault, I got to tag along with Joker and a few of his HaloRuns.com friends.  I was only a level 24 at the time I believe…so yeah I died a lot.  It was a blast to do, especially since the Raid had only been out for a few days when we tackled it.  No one really knew any strategies that would make fighting the Oracles or Atheon easy so it was basically trial and error until we got it right.  Took us eight hours over two nights, but we finally conquered the Vault.
